This article provides information on the calculation of the optical flow by the images sequence as well as analysis of the application of these algorithms for selecting of images of vehicles and detecting the direction of movement in the video. The article also include the results of application of the algorithms of optical flow calculating different input configurations, such as the speed of vehicles, the density of the traffic and existing of images intersections. The conclusion about the work of the algorithms in discussion from view point of actual task are given as the results of research. There are also some recommendations for development of the method of the exact selecting of moving objects.
