The paper summarizes the two inextricably linked problems of science and education, solved with the establishment of the Department of Hydromechanics, Hydraulic Machines and Hydropneumoautomatics (E10). It is shown that the success of these solutions is achieved through the use of qualified fundamental provisions of the exact sciences in the practice of engineering. The main directions in the improvement of educational process by bringing modern computer technology are determined.
