A scientific conference “Basic and Applied Problems of Mechanics“, timed to the 135th anniversary of the Theoretical Mechanics Department, founded by Nikolay E. Zhukovsky,  took place on the 23–25th of October, 2013 in Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The Conference was organized by Bauman MSTU, Methodological Theoretical Mechanics Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Scientific and educational complex “Basic Sciences”, Theoretical Mechanics Department named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky.  Scientific leadership of the Conference carried out Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Konstantin S. Kolesnikov.  Lecturers and research workers of the leading Russian universities and research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, students and postgraduates participated in the Conference.
